Kraven became obsessed with big game hunting and eventually set his sights on Spider-Man, aiming to establish himself as the world’s best hunter. While there has been interest in a Kraven movie for several years, it wasn’t until 2017 that Sony expressed interest in a standalone film. Now, with the upcoming release of Kraven the Hunter, fans are eager to see how the character will be brought to life on the big screen and how he will fit into Sony’s shared superhero universe.
Fans of Kraven the Hunter won’t have to wait much longer to see the character on the big screen, as the film’s release date has been set. Directed by J.C. Chandor, the movie stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role, alongside Ariana DeBose and Fred Hechinger. The film has been in development since 2017, when Sony expressed interest in creating a standalone movie for Kraven as part of their new shared superhero universe. The screenplay was written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk, with Wenk being hired in August 2018, and Marcum and Holloway joining later.
Kraven the Hunter is scheduled to release in the United States on October 6, 2023.
Chandor was confirmed as the director in May 2021, with Taylor-Johnson being cast as Kraven. Filming took place from late March to mid-June in London, England, and Iceland, with additional shooting expected in Glasgow. After much anticipation, fans can mark their calendars for October 6, 2023, when Kraven the Hunter is scheduled to be released in the United States.
