Assassin’s Creed Mirage Preview

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: A New Chapter in the Series. Developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux and published by Ubisoft, this upcoming action-adventure game is the 13th installment in the series. Set in 9th-century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age, players follow Basim Ibn Ishaq’s journey from street thief to Assassin Brotherhood member, fighting for peace and liberty against the Templar Order.

With a focus on linear storytelling and stealth gameplay, Mirage marks a return to the series’ roots. Mirage will be available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Amazon Luna in 2023.

Gameplay: Back to the Roots

In Mirage, players will experience a classic Assassin’s Creed experience, with a focus on linear storytelling and stealth gameplay. Set primarily in Baghdad, with four districts and a visit to the Hidden Ones’ fortress headquarters, Alamut.

Players will utilize parkour, close-quarter combat, and stealth tactics to complete missions, including the return of “Black Box” assassinations from Unity and Syndicate. With an arsenal of weapons and tools, including the signature Hidden Blade and smoke bombs, players will take on the role of Basim as he navigates his journey from street thief to Hidden One.

Synopsis: A Thief’s Journey

Set decades before Valhalla, Mirage follows Basim Ibn Ishaq’s transformation from street thief to Hidden One under the guidance of mentor Roshan. This “coming-of-age story” explores Basim’s growth as he fights for a greater cause.

Development

Mirage is a smaller-scale installment in the series, with a length of 15-20 hours. Designed to celebrate the franchise’s 15th anniversary, the game pays homage to the first Assassin’s Creed. Originally planned as an expansion for Valhalla, Mirage became a standalone title.

Release: Multi-Platform Launch

In 2023, Mirage will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Amazon Luna. Despite initial reports of an Adults Only rating, Ubisoft confirmed no such rating and no real gambling or lootboxes will be present in the game.

As of now, there is no official release date for Mirage, but we will keep you posted when the launch date is finally revealed!

What do you think? Are you looking forward to the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed series? Mirage looks promising, especially for those of us who have been fans of the series since the original title was released in 2007.
