Netflix has expanded its anime library with both existing and exclusive titles over the past few years, and 2022 is going to be another big year for anime fans!
During a live stream of Netflix Anime Japan Day 1 and Day 2, Netflix announced a bunch of new launches coming for the year. Ultraman, Kakegurui, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure are all getting new chapters!
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure STONE OCEAN, Episodes 13-24
Stone Ocean is the sixth part of Hirohiko Araki’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga. Netflix released the first part on December 1, 2021, while the next 12 episodes are set to be released worldwide in Q4 2022. The exact date is unknown, but they might even release it in December like they did last year.
Episodes 13-24 will launch later this year, but you can catch up on the first 12 on Netflix today!
Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 – Season 2

The first trailer didn’t reveal much, but it definitely built up hype for the show. This new trailer shows us what Motoko Kusanagi and her GHOST crew will be up against.
Season 2 will be available for streaming on May 23, 2022. Season 1 is still available to stream on Netflix.
Ultraman – Season 2
When the first season was released worldwide on April 1, 2019 – Ultraman became a hit! The Japanese 3D computer-generated anime series is based on manga of the same name.

Season 2 will be available on April 14.
Spriggan
The anime adaptation of the manga written by Hiroshi Takashige was announced in 2019, and it was initially going to launch in 2021 until they pushed it back to June 2022. Spriggan will be produced by David Production and Netflix.
Originally planned to launch in 2021.
Release Date: June 18th, 2022.
Vampire in the Garden
Vampire in the Garden is about…. Vampires. Not the most common theme for an anime, but it sounds like a very interesting story. Humans are fighting vampires just to survive in this world, but a young girl and her vampire friend find hope in a place called Eden. The anime will cover their journey to find Eden, a place where both humans and vampires lived in harmony.
Release Date: May 16th, 2022.
Kakegurui Twin
A Kakegurui spin-off, this series will take you back before the timeline, following Mary Saotome. This will show you how she starts out in Hyakkou Private Academy, a high-class elite school where students are evaluated on their gambling skills.
Release Date: August 2022. The original Kakegurui Season 1 and 2 is available now on Netflix.
The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh
This Netflix original is a spin-off of The Seven Deadly Sins series. It’s going to be a movie series following the story of Meliodas’s son, Tristan. Here’s an official tease trailer:
Release Date: Part 1 of this movie series will launch in 2022, but no exact date has been confirmed at the time of this writing.
Baki Hanma Season 2
If you watch anime on Netflix, then you’ve definitely watched or at least previewed Banki Hanma, it’s a top series on the streaming service right now. In season 1, Baki Hanma goes to Arizona State Prison to take on Mr. Unchained. Training to surpass his father, Baki also faces a Neanderthal from the Cretaceous era named Pickle. It’s a great martial arts series, and the fight scenes are some of the best you will see in an anime.
So it’s no surprise that Baki Hanma Season 2 is highly anticipated. There is no official trailer or release date at the time.

Tiger & Bunny 2
Exclusive to Amazon, Tiger & Bunny 2 will be the first time in 11 years that new episodes of the series will be released. Created by the anime studio Sunrise, the Japanese Netflix Original will be available for streaming in April.
It has been confirmed that Netflix will be getting 25 episodes of Tiger & Bunny 2, with 13 episodes releasing in April, and the remaining 12 arriving later on. Netflix has not confirmed the release date for the second part.
Release Date: April 8th, 2022.
Kotaru Lives Alone
Kotaru Lives Alone is about a boy that moves into an apartment building all on his own, and the show will explore social topics of living in Japan. It’s expected to feature a great deal of humor, as the main character makes friends with a broke manga artist that lives in the apartment next to him.

Thermae Romae Novae
A comedy anime series, Thermae Romae Novae is about a bath designer in the Roman Empire who accidentally time travels to present-day and Edo-era Japan. He learns about modern-day Japanese bath culture… so yeah, expect a lot of laughs with this one! It’s available for streaming on Netflix now!

Bubble
From the people who brought us the Attack on Titans anime, Bubble is an original anime film by Director Tetsuro Araki and WIT Studio. Bubble has a unique and interesting plot – bubbles breaking the laws of gravity start raining down upon the world. Set in Tokyo, a young parkour ace Hibiki meets Uta, a girl with powers.
