How Supergirl Season One Begins…

“Supergirl” soars into action in its first episode as we meet cousins Kal-El and Kara Zor-El, sent to Earth before Krypton’s impending destruction. Kara’s ship is forced off course into the Phantom Zone for 24 years before finally landing on Earth, where she is taken in by the Danvers family in National City.

12 years later, Kara, working at CatCo Worldwide Media, reveals her powers as a vigilante and enlists the help of her co-worker, Winn Schott. Her boss, Cat Grant, dubs her “Supergirl” and she quickly becomes embroiled in the world of alien activity as she learns that there are hundreds of aliens on Earth.

Kara also discovers that her mother, Alura, ran a prison from which many of the aliens came from. Her actions draw the attention of an alien named Vartox, whom she is able to defeat, but not before he kills himself.

As Kara navigates this new world of heroics, she receives help from her colleague James Olsen, who was sent by Kal-El to look after her, and receives a new cape. But the excitement doesn’t stop there as it’s revealed that Vartox’s superior is none other than Astra In-Ze, Alura’s identical twin sister, who wants to conquer Earth.
